Now that Facebook has gone to it’s new Timeline for Brands (pages), and gotten rid of the extremely popular custom landing page, people are seeing a decrease in new fans. Further, there are reports out there that using 3rd party applications like Hubspot or Hootsuite can actually hurt your Facebook page and cause you to lose fans.

Many of our clients are all getting over the initial shock and starting to see the benefits that Timeline can bring to them. Some of them are still trying to figure out what happened, but they know it is working for them. A small number want to know how we go back to the old look. In the end, the Timeline has been great for ROICOM.

At ROICOM we have seen a steady steam of people asking about social media management, including people who 6 months ago thought it was useless. Many of them have a concern about how to get new fans, and increase their Pages fan numbers. They ask ROICOM how we help clients get new fans. Here’s the short version:

There are a few different options out there, and choosing which option works for you is usually a budget option.

 Buy fans. Use a reputable company. There are many overnight, we’ll get you more fans companies that use robots and create fake accounts. Then there are companies that actually get you new fans – not over night. These can take up to 30 days to get you 500 new fans. Seems like a long time, but the reality is that is pretty quick. Fans can cost you over $1 each. These fans are targeted fans and can even be geographically targeted to help build you base.

 

Direct fans to a landing page. Yes, Facebook got rid of the default custom landing page, but they didn’t get rid of landing pages. If you are directing traffic to your Facebook page via an embedded URL on your website, or even a QR Code, simply direct them to the URL of your landing page. In other words, instead of directing people to http://www.facebook.com/ROICOMLLC, you can direct them to http://www.facebook.com/ROICOMLLC?sk=app_121995837902510. Since the link is embedded into your page, and opening up Facebook (hopefully in a new tab or window) you can direct people to a landing page, which encourages them to like your page.

 Offer free incentives and coupons on your page, to fans only by creating a tab where those incentives and coupons reside, and fan gate the tab.

 

There is a definite art to getting new Facebook Fans. It doesn’t happen all in one fell swoop – unless of course you just want to increase your numbers and don’t care too much about increasing you bottom line. Most true fans are organic, and therefore you need to get them to your Facebook page organically. Option 2 is ROICOM’s preferred method to get new fans for clients. While it takes more time, and more leg work, in the end, the fans that our clients get are real people, who really love our clients.
